I am an impulse buy...

So...anyone need some Alpine 15" Type-R subwoofers? Well, I have two of them, should you be in the market. We had an employee POP sale, I don't even know what the POP stands for, but basically, it's like an internal yard/garage sale. So I bought me a couple of these bad boys cuz they were too good a deal to pass up. They're pretty sweet, and I'd probably use them, if my car was about 3x bigger than it currently is and I had the ends to get an amp big enough to power both of them. So, someone, holla at me if you need to buy some :). I also got some work shirts, and some other nifty stuff for my fam. I'm such an Alpine whore man, it's ridiculous, he he he. Who wants Alpine stuff?

Damn, it's been one busy ass day for me. So many errands, so many meetings, and now, it's already 7PM. Good gosh, where did the time go? And work only looks to get busier over the next couple of weeks. We've all been asked to "put forth our best efforts," meaning, "STAY LATE...OR ELSE." Talk about subliminal messages. At least dinner is provided. And at least I have stuff planned for all my next few weekends and therefore, cannot work on weekends. Thank goodness for planning ahead.

Well, I'd rather not stay here any longer than I must, so with that...

Happy Trails...

I am the goal...

I am pretty sore today. I worked out w/ beeb last night after my league game and did tri's and chest. Had to wait like 1/2 an hour for a bench to open up(i'm trying not to always do bench when I work on chest, but it had been a while, and for some reason I have to bench to get back into it), and killed my tri's, and tried to kill hers too(she never gets sore when she works out w/ me for some reason). I'm usually not sore until the 2nd day after I work out, and knowing that, I didn't want it to happen, becuase I have a game on thursday...and it sucks to play ball sore...esp when it's your tri's. Anyway, so knowing that, I stretched my tri's and chest out after doing abs because she was still running. But now I'm sore today...maybe stretching just speeds up the soreness so that you'll be unsore faster? I wonder. I just hope I'm not still sore tomorrow...

Men and Women
I heard a funny segment on KROQ this morning(yes listen to radio stations OTHER than AM in the morning) and they were talking about how catty girls are. K&B were saying that you can put the two nicest and sweetest girls in the world in the same room, and they'd end up getting in a fight. Funny how it's like that...I was just talking to one of my friends the other day, and she mentioned how she's always tentative about girls' night outs, becuase girls are so darned catty. I mean, for guys, it's totally different. You can put two guys that don't even like each other in the same place and nothing will even happen. We really are from two different planets....ha ha ha.

"We have to talk."
Funny how certain words or phrases can cause an automatic reaction. For example, if "Hey" was shouted out at the grocery store, more often than not, that usually will catch your attention, regardless if it was directed at you or not. But the phrase, "We have to talk," that usually incurs either a positive reaction or a negative reaction. For me, it automatically incurs a negative reaction. I was thinking about this yesterday... everytime I hear that phrase, I think I'm in some kind of trouble or something. And it's definitely due to experience...becuase everytime I have heard that word, it was negative stuff. "We have to talk." One time I heard that phrase, a girl broke up w/ me. Another time, I got laid off...another time, I found out some disturbing information. So naturally, my mind has been geared towards expecting the worst. But some people I know, when they hear that, they're like, "Oh really? Okay." No initial thoughts or anxieties...I wish I could be more like that. Stupid experiences...

Need to do laundry tonight...really do. Out of wifebeaters and running dangerously low on the tighty whities. House is gonna get fumigated starting tomorrow, so I won't have access to the house before I leave for vegas...for yet another bachelor party. Yes folks, tis the season for vegas. Anyway, I need clothes for the rest of the week, meaning, I must do laundry tonight! Darn, I need to make sure the house is ready for fumigation too, krikey. I also need to go to Target. Running out of toiletries too...

This is too freakin hilarious!!!!

You have to watch the whole thing. And I still can't figure out the second one.

I am a bunch of sneezes...

Weekend Fun
Man oh man, I am pretty darned tired today. I just got back from Vegas early yesterday day evening and I gotta say, it was a fun bachelor weekend. Not too much to go into detail about (muah ha ha ha) but here are some highlights:

-It amazes me how much one can drink in Vegas. And it's not because we're drinking watered down drinks or anything...becuase we were drinking the stuff we brought...Crown and Patron....BLECH! I couldn't believe I was drinking those drinks either, but I had at least 6 or 7 shots the first night, plus other drinks and maybe up to 10-12 the second night. And no hangovers! Crazy I tell ya...talagang crazy... It must be an environmental/mental thing...the mind is one truly amazing thing.
-When playing games at the tables, it's a good idea to listen to whatever people next to you might say, regardless of how much you think they might be bs-ing. Some lady at my poker table kept boasting about her bf that was playing in the Bellagio tourney and all this and that...and I just smiled and nodded, and participated in the occasional chit chat. I ended up backing her up w/ another guy in our bachelor party when some drama arose at our table(basically someone acted out of turn before her), and in return, when it was time to go to dinner, she handed me and the other guy full comps for dinner anywhere in Bellagio! We both ended up ordering about $125 worth of food at Cafe Bellagio (I had lamb chops, appetizers, dessert, soup, coffee, and drinks) and only had to pay for the tip, which we paid genrously due to our gratitude of not having to pay our total, he he he. Man, life for those dudes that get comped everything must be nice. Granted, they might contribute like 100 times more than what they get back, but it's always nice to feel pampered once in a while.
-The Bellagio hotel has automatic drapes that you open and close from buttons on the wall or near your bed. Talk about lazy...it was awesome.
-Only in Vegas, can you be swimming and laying out in the pool when it's about 80 degrees when a cloud comes and covers up the sun...and it starts raining.
-Cab/Limo companies usually get a kick-back($20/head on most occasions) for taking you to a strip club. Ask if they'll take you for free or at least cheap, negotiate...you never know. Better yet, drive...cover is usually only gonna be $10 instead...that saves you $10 extra for whatever your lil heart desires.
-Play video poker at the bar and you drink for free...think about it. It's a comp for gambling, as if you were at the tables. Just make sure to tip!
-If you're gonna drive home from vegas, leave before 11. Better yet, don't drive, just fly. Trust me.

I'm going back to Vegas again this weekend for another bachelor party. I was just saying how I hadn't gone for a while(since November). Now two trips in as many weeks...be careful what you wish for out there.

"What goes up, must come down"
-Dude, I wish this saying was true for most things...especially gas.

I am a day off...

Dude, I've been wanting to post for the past couple of days, but I've been so busy at work lately I really haven't had the time to. AND, I would've blogged late/early monday night/morning, but I got so tired I just couldn't. So here it is...

For those that already know, I am an Eagles fan...no, not the Philadelphia Eagles, or any other sports Eagles, but the band, the Eagles...dude, they ROCK! Anyway, so tickets were on sale, which I didn't really know about, and of course all the affordable seats were taken. But tickets to one of the Staples Center shows went on sale Monday morning, 10 AM. And all last week, I couldn't wait for the tix to go on sale. I kept telling cic, "Beeb, dont' forget to remind me about the tix." I wrote lil reminders at my desk at work, and even put "Buy Eagles tix" on my To DO list. 10 AM. 10 AM. I even tried to get tix to the other shows...there were VIP pre-sale tix available last week to Amex people, but the onloy ones left were the $200 ones...so umm, ixnay on that. Come monday, I am so frickin busy that it completely slips, and not until I talked to Cic that night did I remember about the tickets...when she pretty much reminded me about it. I was soooooooooooo pissed! I couldn't believe I had missed out on it. So I went online just to torture myself and look at cha-ching seating unaffordable tickets that were left...but lo and behold, there were still tix available!!! Granted, they were total nosebleeders, but hey, it's at Staples...I've sat all the way against the back wall during games...couldn't be that bad...plus...I was on chatting with Anna, who totally convinced me that I should get them...so I purchased them! Yes, that's right, I, Jay Bermudez, am the proud owner of Eagles concert tickets! September 24th baby! I will be going to see...well, actually, hear the Eagles, live in concert. $45 tix(plus Ticketmaster's unbelievable "Convenience fees" [I hate that crap]).

Like I said, work's been busy, and I am looking forward to taking Friday off...and gettin to go to Vegas...woohoo! It'll be a nice weekend off all the training...and I'll have to get back on my arse and squeeze in those workouts next week.

Still gots lots I wanna write about, but I guess that'll have to wait for another day...being that it's so late already...krikey!!!

I am wishful thought...

I thought I ran at least once earlier last week prior to yesterday, but guess that was the week before...becuase Cic and I went over the whole week and yup, no runs in there. Dangit! That's why I had such a hard time running yesterday. 8 miles so far...and I must say, that is probably the furthest that I have ran so far. I've hiked 12 miles (Cinque Terre: Back when Chris and Glenn and I backpacked in '01), but never ran it. We even took a little break at the 4 mile point. Basically we ran from her place to the Beverly Center, got her ears pierced and ran back. The only thing that sucks about running on the streets rather than at the beyotch is that there ain't no frickin water fountains anywhere. Granted, at the beach, they'll trick you and you'll see a water fountain, only to see the waterhose disconnected when you get close enough, but there are working ones around. On the street, we didn't get to drink until we got to the BC and then not again til we got to the gas station accross the street from her place. I'm not gonna get to do a long run this week, and maybe even the next, but I'll try to get them in somehow. Just gotta keep on keepin on! But I do have to be careful about overextending myself. After that run yesterday, I played ball in a league game. We lost, but I played a lot... kinda tiring.

One of the things I've realized about my family is that it is quite a sickly family. Mom's had this crazy cough thing for a thousand years it seems. High blood and migraine headaches(which I have...the second, not the first...yet), history of stroke, diabetes. Needless to say, knowing how big genetics plays in famillies, it kinda freaks me out. Which is why I'm probably so parandoid when it comes to getting sick or hurt and stuff. And it's kinda funny, becuase I think probably one of the other reasons why I do so many activities is to try to stay as healthy as possible. Weird how you realize such things. I didn't realize it until mom told me about this headache she was having last night... Of all the genes I got from my folks, I hope physical ailments weren't included...

Speaking of family. It is so funny to me how we try not to become our parents, and in the end, we totally do. I've recently noticed I'm totally 1/2 of my mom's qualities, and 1/2 of pop's.

The results from the conclave so far? They did not come to an agreement in the first election...we wait another day.

I am the changing of the guard...

This is my offical first post since my Template was changed. (Thanks to Beeb) Look familiar? he he he... There's still some stuff I want to add/change, but that's when I have time...which pretty much means never, he he he.

Get those checks in the mail
I hope everyone mailed or will mail their tax stuff on time. Midnight tonight folks!!! As for me, I just mailed mine yesterday. Being one of the few people of my friends (aside from Joe) that actually OWE our gov't, I wanted to hold on to my precious dollars as long as possible, he he he. It wasn't that much, but it's definitely the first time I owed, which is always kinda strange...

Anyway, I've got a more I wanna say, but hey, it's Friday, so I'll leave you with this...

We use a lot of acronyms here at work. And for our reviews coming up, we have to fill out a Training and Needs Assessment form...or TNA, he he he. Brought me a little chuckle.

Happy Trails all :)

I am a completed thought...

ode to siblings
It's weird how after high school, Jos and I both ended up at Irvine, and then now she only lives like 2 miles away, and yet we still don't see as much of each other as most people would think we do. Mostly, we just catch each other in passing, when she picks up London from the house, or I'll be leaving right when she gets there, or things like that. I don't visit her as often as I'd like to, and we definitely don't get to talk as much. It's not like we're totally distant, but I just kinda think it's weird that we barely see each other and have a heart-to-heart, being as close as we are. One of those things one just takes for granted sometimes, I guess. Which is why we actually went out to dinner earlier this week. It was nice catching up w/ her, finding out what's goin on in her life, and telling her what's going on in mine. It's funny because we both were trying to figure out a way to let the people in the restaurant know we weren't a couple...so she wanted a side of mushrooms or something and I was like, "Excuse, me, sorry to bother you, my sister would like to know if you have any dishes with mushrooms available." It was probably obvious what we were trying to do, but at least they got the message. So it was a good time. But man, now that I think about it...it's sad that our schedules are so tied up with this and that so much that we dont' really get to see each other much anymore. What more when I have a family of my own? Hangouts will become even more rare...but alas, c'est la vie. Que sera sera. If I've learned anything throughout my brief 27 years on this planet so far, it's that the things that matter most will endure any weather...

Ode to rings
I've noticed that a lot of people at work do not wear their wedding rings. I used to think some people were not even married, but then I'd hear them talk about their wife and kids and stuff like that, and I'm thinkin to myself, "Where's their wedding ring?" And I don't think their divorced or anything like that. Weird. Maybe some people don't wanna wear it at all because they're hiding it and don't want people to know they're married or maybe they outgrew it. I know pop didn't wear his ring for a long time because his fingers outgrew his ring. But after his stroke, he lost about 30-40 pounds and he wears it all the time now. But I guess you can tell if some people are trying to hide it, and that's kinda shady. Me no like that.

Ode to the miracle that is the telephone
Gotta be one of the world's inventions. Which leads to...one of the world's best services....phone ordering. Saves sooooooo much time man. At work, there's a group of us that do a Jamba Juice rotation run thingy each week, and after a long long hiatus, it was my turn to get Jamba for everyone. I had tried to leave earlier that morning to allow for ample time to get the Jamba, but as always, I ended up leaving a little later than I had planned. So I called the closest Jamba that was on my way to work, well it wasn't really ON my way to work...it was more on the way and off to the west...anyway, so like I said, I called them and asked exactly where they were and while I was talking to the Jamba lady, it occurred to me... I ask, "Excuse me, do you take phone orders?" And she goes, "Oh yeah, let me transfer you to the phone order person." SCORE! I was able to phone my order in and be in and out of Jamba in less than 5 minutes. It was so efficient that I actually got into work 5 minutes early! Man oh man...thank you Phone Gods...

Hard to believe that it's Friday already...woohoo!

Happy Trails!

I am a vision of a bobblehead...

Why is it that the grass is always greener on the OTHER side? The last couple weeks at work, I was working with a bunch of French speakers we hired from some agency and just helped them work through some long task list we provided. I had to make sure they understood everything and provide them with any technical support they needed, and also just take time to do my other things while they worked. They got a little on my nerves at one point because they were all these 40-year-old liberals who knew nothing better than to debate current affairs ALL the furiken time. So I couldn't wait til it was over so I could get back to working at my desk. So now, I almost wish I was doing what I was doing the past couple of weeks, because now I am getting pretty busy and it be no fun mang. They should change things so that the grass is always greener on MY side, he he he. Oh well, work is work.

Did you know?
It's not hard to eat more salt than you should. The USDA-recommended daily amount of sodium is 2400mg, and a mere teaspoon of salt has a whopping 2300 grams! And it doesn't matter if you don't use the saltshaker. Most of us get an excess of sodium simply from the prepared foods and snacks we buy routinely. Read your labels folks...be label whores, he he he.

I am a brief moment of shock...

I thought that the Pope passed away today...and then came the reports that he had not yet...but is extremely close to it(freakin media). So thus, my blog entry has changed a bit. Anyway, for those brief minutes when I thought that he HAD passed away, here are some of the things that went through my mind...
-I never thought our generation would live to witness the death of the pope. I guess it's one of those things that I guess you never think would happen, and yet here I am writing about it, cuz it's gonna happen
-There's a whole lot of tradition and ritual steeped into the papacy. From his death to the papal election, it's pretty crazy. There's even an excerpt of the process in the first chapters of Angels and Demons.

Since everyone else has done it so far, here are the results from my test...

Your Brain is 73.33% Female, 26.67% Male

Your brain leans female

You think with your heart, not your head

Sweet and considerate, you are a giver

But you're tough enough not to let anyone take advantage of you!

I am apparently more girl than guy...but I doth protest. As per regan's explanation, I have bonafide manly reasons in my responses. Oh well, I guess I better work on a how to increase my masculinity list as well...
